About AI for Vietnam

AI for Vietnam (AIV) is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Vietnamese professionals from the world’s leading technology corporations and prestigious academic institutions. We serve as a bridgebetween global AI advancements and Vietnam’s growing tech ecosystem, uniting a global network of over Vietnamese experts across the globe to accelerate the nation’s technological progress.

We operate at a unique historic pivot where Vietnam has the opportunity to rise as a creator—not just a follower—in the AI era. Our work is fueled by a global Vietnamese AI talent pool, a domestic workforce with a strong technical foundation, and an eager mindset to innovate.

Our mission is to meet the surging cross-domain demand for AI by:

  • Building open, high-quality Vietnamese datasets and benchmarks that span across hundreds of topics and preserve our cultural nuance.
  • Developing AI solutions rooted in open innovation and community collaboration.
  • Providing open access to AI knowledge and tools for everyone – from students to national organizations.

At AIV, we believe that AI is more than a technological race; it is a cultural mission. We empower the nation to leapfrog traditional development stages, ensuring that AI reflects Vietnamese language, knowledge, culture, and values while contributing to Vietnam’s transformation into a global center of AI excellence.

Role Overview

The AI Innovation Architect serves as a key catalyst for organizational transformation at AIV by identifying, evaluating, and applying emerging AI technologies to internal workflows. The primary objective of this role is to improve and automate day-to-day operations across the organization, including Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Human Resources by bridging the gap between cutting-edge AI developments and practical, high-impact operational efficiency.

On a day-to-day basis, you will research emerging AI tools and platforms, experiment with automation frameworks, and propose actionable improvements to existing engineering and operational processes. You will operate as a proactive “problem seeker,” identifying manual bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and friction points, and designing scalable, automated solutions where structure or systems do not yet exist.

Working in a fully remote environment, you will report to the Heads of Special Projects and collaborate closely with program, engineering, product, and operations leads. Your role is to ensure that AI innovations are integrated into the organization in a responsible, pragmatic, and mission-aligned manner, balancing experimentation with reliability and real-world usability.

The team is composed of members with diverse backgrounds and skill sets, and we strongly encourage you to apply even if you meet some, but not all of the requirements. Candidates from both technical and non-technical backgrounds are welcome. We highly encourage applicants to share examples of past projects where they have helped optimize, automate, or redesign workflows using AI or automation tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Remain at the forefront of generative AI, responsible AI, and applied AI use cases that align with AIV’s mission. You will continuously scan the global AI landscape to identify emerging platforms, tools, and methodologies that can create meaningful value for a small, fast-moving nonprofit organization.
  • Identify and diagnose manual bottlenecks across operational and engineering workflows, and propose AI-driven automation opportunities. You will design, prototype, and iterate on workflows that leverage AI to reduce repetitive work, increase efficiency, and enable volunteers to focus on higher-impact, strategic initiatives.
  • Translate complex research and technical developments into clear, actionable recommendations for organizational and program-level improvement. You will support leadership by outlining practical adoption plans for new tools while thoughtfully evaluating both the opportunities and risks associated with AI implementation.
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Learning & Development, Human Resources, Marketing, Engineering, and Project Management to drive internal adoption of new technologies. You will support enablement through the creation of content, documentation, workshops, and informal knowledge-sharing sessions, serving as an internal subject matter expert and trusted advisor on AI tools and best practices.

Qualifications

  • You possess a strong interest in AI and emerging technologies, with a proven ability to learn new tools and frameworks independently. You enjoy experimenting with new ideas and staying current with fast-moving technology trends, regardless of whether you have a formal technical background.
  • You can synthesize complex technical information and communicate it clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You have a pragmatic eye for what is “fit-for-purpose,” ensuring that proposed innovations are scalable and actually solve the team’s needs.
  • You are a self-starter who is comfortable with the ambiguity of a young organization and skilled at creating structure from scratch. You take full accountability for identifying friction points in our daily operations and proposing creative, technology-first solutions.
  • You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both Vietnamese and English. You can build strong relationships across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders without having direct authority over them.

Preferred qualifications

  • Diverse Backgrounds: We welcome candidates from AI, data science, education, technology research, or product backgrounds.
  • Applied AI Experience: Hands-on experience with using AI tools and building personal automation tools using AI.
