Dr. Hung Tran is a scientist-turned-entrepreneur dedicated to democratizing education through AI. Born in Nam Định—a region celebrated for academic excellence—he found his calling in science and technology early on. After graduating from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, he pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Iowa under a U.S. Government VEF Fellowship, focusing on AI and Data Mining.
In Silicon Valley, Dr. Tran founded Got It, Inc., a pioneering “Knowledge as a Service” platform that has served millions worldwide. Today, Got It is forging the future of AI-powered learning through MathGPT.ai, a Generative AI platform designed to act as a teaching assistant for professors and a virtual tutor for students. The company’s visionary efforts have attracted over $50 million in funding from top-tier investors, including Capricorn Investment Group—early backers of SpaceX and Tesla.
Dr. Tran’s commitment to expanding educational access also led him to establish the STEAM for Vietnam Foundation, a U.S.-based nonprofit offering free STEAM education to Vietnamese youth. Through programs in Coding, Computational Thinking, and Robotics, the foundation has empowered tens of thousands of students and teachers—sending over 100 Vietnamese students to compete at VEX Worlds, the world’s largest robotics competition, for the first time in history.
As a former member of the Advisory Group for Vietnam Prime Minister’s National Committee for Education Reform (2016–2021) and co-head of the Foundation Models Labs at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Dr. Tran remains at the forefront of Generative AI education and adoption in Vietnam.
