Dr. Quoc V. Le (Le Viet Quoc) is a pioneering AI and machine learning expert who carries a mission to unite global innovation with Vietnam’s AI development. Born and raised in Huong Thuy, Thua Thien Hue, he found early inspiration in mathematics and machinery – a passion that eventually took him to Silicon Valley. Today, he leads cutting-edge AI projects at Google Brain, advancing speech recognition, natural language processing, and neural networks. He is currently a Distinguished Scientist at Google Brain, and a Founding Engineer at Google DeepMind.

A Distinguished Scholar who graduated with First Class Honors from the Australian National University, Dr. Le went on to earn a PhD in Computer Science from Stanford University. In 2014, MIT Technology Review named him one of the top innovators worldwide under 35, recognizing his work on Google’s Neural Machine Translation system and unsupervised deep learning techniques. These innovations have transformed how machines interpret language and images – a legacy highlighted by features in The New York Times Magazine and presentations at global conferences.

For Dr. Quoc, AI for Vietnam Foundation is both a calling and a return to his roots. Aware of the limited AI tools and resources available in Vietnamese, he collaborates with international experts to democratize AI access, nurture local talent, and develop solutions tailored to Vietnam’s cultural and linguistic context. From Quoc Hoc Hue High School to the forefront of Silicon Valley’s AI scene, Dr. Le’s story exemplifies the transformative power of ambition and education. It also propels AIV’s mission: to foster an inclusive, innovative environment where Vietnam thrives in the global AI era.
