About AI for Vietnam
AI for Vietnam (AIV) is a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Vietnamese professionals from the world’s leading technology corporations and prestigious academic institutions. We serve as a bridge between global AI advancements and Vietnam’s growing tech ecosystem, uniting a global network of over Vietnamese experts across the globe to accelerate the nation’s technological progress.
We operate at a unique historic pivot where Vietnam has the opportunity to rise as a creator—not just a follower—in the AI era. Our work is fueled by a global Vietnamese AI talent pool, a domestic workforce with a strong technical foundation, and an eager mindset to innovate.
Our mission is to meet the surging cross-domain demand for AI by:
- Building open, high-quality Vietnamese datasets and benchmarks that span across hundreds of topics and preserve our cultural nuance.
- Developing AI solutions rooted in open innovation and community collaboration.
- Providing open access to AI knowledge and tools for everyone – from students to national organizations.
At AIV, we believe that AI is more than a technological race; it is a cultural mission. We empower the nation to leapfrog traditional development stages, ensuring that AI reflects Vietnamese language, knowledge, culture, and values while contributing to Vietnam’s transformation into a global center of AI excellence.
Role Overview
The Head of Product Operations is responsible for setting the vision, strategy, and operating model for Product Operations at AIV. This role serves as the strategic and operational backbone for AIV’s Product, Engineering, and Research functions, ensuring that products are delivered with clarity, alignment, and measurable impact at scale.
As a core member of the product leadership team, the Head of Product Operations connects strategy to execution across the organization. This role designs and owns the systems, processes, and operating rhythms that enable Product teams to move efficiently in complex, ambiguous environments while staying aligned with AIV’s mission. By partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and other cross-functional leaders, this role identifies systemic bottlenecks, improves decision-making quality, and builds the foundation for sustainable product delivery.
The Head of Product Operations balances strategic leadership with hands-on operational ownership. They are accountable for establishing scalable product operations capabilities – from planning and prioritization frameworks to launch governance, feedback loops, and metrics – while continuously evolving these systems as the organization grows. This role ensures that user insights, data, and execution signals are consistently translated into clear priorities and confident product decisions.
In addition, the Head of Product Operations leads and mentors Product Operations talent, setting standards for operational excellence and fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement. They work as an extension of product leadership to ensure that every product and feature launch is operationally sound, cross-functionally aligned, and executed with discipline.
This role reports to the Head of Product and collaborates closely with senior leaders across Product, Engineering, Research, and other functions to scale AIV’s product impact through strong operational foundations.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrated leadership experience in owning end-to-end launch readiness and execution at scale, ensuring product and feature launches are completed successfully, on time, and with a high level of operational confidence across multiple teams and initiatives.
- Proven ability to design, own, and continuously evolve product operations systems and operating models, including workflow design, release and launch governance, planning cycles, and operating cadences. You have experience standardizing processes for idea intake, prioritization, and execution to enable lean teams to move faster while remaining aligned with organizational strategy and mission.
- Strong capability in establishing and overseeing mechanisms for capturing and synthesizing user feedback, translating the voice of the customer into clear, actionable insights that inform product strategy and prioritization. You ensure Product teams consistently have access to both qualitative and quantitative inputs required for high-quality, user-centered decision-making.
- Deep experience in defining and institutionalizing rigor around product success measurement, including designing reliable metrics, dashboards, and reporting systems. You are comfortable setting and tracking core KPIs and providing leadership with transparent, ongoing visibility into performance and execution health.
- Ability to lead and coordinate the deployment of new products and features across cross-functional and volunteer teams, ensuring operational readiness, clear ownership, and smooth handoffs throughout the launch lifecycle.
- Exceptional cross-functional leadership and influence skills, with a track record of facilitating effective collaboration between Product, Engineering, Research, Partnership, Customer Success, and Marketing.
- Aligning priorities, removing systemic execution blockers, and driving complex initiatives to completion in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Leading a high-performing Product Operations team by optimizing resource allocation, ensuring project delivery, and fostering continuous professional growth through regular guidance and feedback.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in leading product operations or adjacent execution functions in technology-driven organizations, with responsibility for shaping operating models rather than simply running processes. You have successfully built product execution systems from early-stage foundations and evolved them to support scale, complexity, and cross-team coordination.
- Strong strategic and analytical judgment, with the ability to use data as a leadership tool. You can define what should be measured, design the right success metrics, and establish dashboards and reporting mechanisms that enable teams and leadership to clearly understand progress, risks, and trade-offs.
- Executive-level communication and influence skills, with the ability to align diverse stakeholders around shared priorities.
- You communicate clearly and credibly in both Vietnamese and English, and are effective at influencing outcomes across Product, Engineering, Research, Partnership, Marketing, and external partners without relying on formal authority.
- A mission-driven leader with a bias toward execution, who is energized by building structure in environments where clarity is still emerging. You are comfortable operating in fast-moving, startup-like nonprofit contexts and take full ownership for creating alignment, operational discipline, and momentum at the organizational level.
